Audiology: is a branch of science, studies about
hearing, balance, & some related disorders. Persons who practice or treat
those with hearing loss & proactively prevents related to damage are known
as audiologists. It determines that someone can hear with normal range, if not

hearing (high, medium, or low frequency) are affected to degrees. An
audiologist determines, hearing loss or vestibular abnormality is present then
he or she recommends as a patient, e.g., hearing aid, cochlear implants,
surgery etc.
All the doctors
of (Au.D) are a professional degree for an audiologist. Programs is designed to
produce audiologists who are skilled, providing diagnostic & other services
which are associated with the hearing balance, related to audio logical fields.
Most of the individuals help patients primarily by diagnosing hearing loss &
fitting some hearing devices.

Training Period: completed
in 4 years, students, having qualification in Speech Language Pathology &
Audiology or Communication Science & Disorders. Students, not having
background generally have to complete a 2nd bachelors program; some
scholars are trying to introduce a 5year program for the students without any
background field.
All India Instituteof Speech & Hearing: is known as AIISH. This is an autonomous institute under
the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. Institute was established in 1966,
which is focused on the training professionals for speech & hearing
sciences. It also conducts research in speech language pathology, audiology
speech sciences, & hearing sciences etc. Most of the recent or current research
activities focus on the early identification & genetics of hearing impairment,
effectiveness, development of assessment materials & speech speaker, etc. It
has been developed for normative data for speech & language acquisitions,
children for different Indian languages, established a research fund from which
some are getting award for special working in the fields of, neurology, genetics,
epidemiology, otolaryngology, & clinical psychology etc. AIISH is recognized
as a center of excellence in the area of deafness by WHO, World Health
Organisation.

AIISH provides clinical
services for speech, language & hearing disorders through clinical service
program. The therapy clinics providing, assessment & intervention services,
for variety of speech, language & hearing disorders applicable for all
ages.
